We left Cáparra several minutes ago
in direction to Baños de Montemayor.
From north to south will pass trough
the Valle del Ambroz during the next 23 kilometers.
The place - name Ambroz (valley and river) come from Celtic language
and means "mountain place", according to this affirmation
there are 600 meters average altitude in this way section.
Afterwards cross over trough
cork trees and some streams
arrive to Aldeanueva del Camino, place emerged as consequence of the continuous
traffic generated around the Vía de la Plata.
In this town
popular architecture with wooden balconies shows up
and the small roman bridge upon Buitrera´s gorge.
Outside Aldeanueva del Camino find us this ceramic map
where appears all Vía de la Plata´s itinerary in Extremadura.
Any pilgrim may lose the chance to visit Hervás
knowing the tight and nice streets inside the old juddish quarter
added her idilic gorge for taking a pleasured bath.
In summary, it´s one of the most nice place in the region.
The end of this route is coming
similar to this abandoned railroad track Plasencia - Astorga line.
Last stop is Baños de Montemayor
called "Caelonico" in roman times, this mansio or inn located 132 miles
(200 km) from Emerita Augusta (Mérida).
Baños de Montemayor is renowned since antiquity
by the thermal springs
The modern spa´s establishment is build upon roman baths
making an important tourist reputation to the town.
Very tired
we´re rising the perpendicular streets looking for the last pilgrim hostel
in Extremadura.
During 11 journeys we´ve walked over 325 kilometers
from Monesterio to Baños de Montemayor
